In 2007, Jinoy Jacob - EPIC Maithili Leader, was invited by the leadership of a Maithili village in Bihar, India to birth a school in their village. They agreed that if we would do this that he could freely preach the Gospel in the village. EPIC partnered with Jinoy to make this happen. There were bamboo building erected, teachers secured, curriculum developed, and a full scale teaching program implemented for almost 300 children.
As a result of the school and it’s popularity, the EPIC church planters assigned to this village realized many open doors to share the truth about Jesus. Since then, many have come to faith in Christ, two large house churches have been birthed and several preaching points up to five miles away are engaged in Bible studies. The influence of Christianity in the area has been felt and the seeds sown are bearing fruit.
In June 2009, a group of militant Hindus burned down the bamboo school in hopes of curtailing the spread of the Gospel. Jinoy, the EPIC church planters, and many of the people in the village covenanted to reconstruct the school. They received offerings and made appeals. A new brick school would cost almost $7,000. They began construction and appealed to EPIC for $4,000 in order to finish the facility. (See Photo F)
EPIC agreed to supply these additional funds by asking the donors to EPIC to meet this emergency. Timing is important since classes need to begin in September after the monsoon season ends. We are appealing to our many friends and supporters to send a gift for this important outreach. Not only are children being trained in an atmosphere where the Gospel is prevalent, but the testimony of how Christians love and outreach is at stake here. So, please consider this request seriously.
