EPIC is passionate about embracing The Great Commission through Church Planting. The fulfilling of the Great Commission varies from ministry to ministry and even church to church. EPIC's policy is that the ultimate command Jesus gave was, "make disciples" and His plan is to do this through the local church. Our policy is to sponsor projects that are part of birthing church planting movements process. There is an endless list of projects in which Christians worldwide should consider being involved. However, the end-vision for EPIC is thousands of self-replicating churches planted among unreached people groups. So, EPIC projects center around resourcing evangelism, discipleship, and training leaders.

SPONSORSHIP

Dozens of church planters throughout Central and South Asia, as well as the Middle East, are sponsored by EPIC International. This support is provided during the pioneering stages of birthing a church planting movement. It is not meant to be ongoing support over a period of years unless there is some unusual circumstance. Dependency is certainly not the goal of sponsorships. Once a movement is birthed, the newly formed churches sponsor their pastors and ultimately their missionaries and church planters.

In most cases, your church planter will work in as many as ten villages and plant at least one church a year. Often, a church planter will plant several churches in a year when the church movement is flourishing in his area. Local national leaders partnering with EPIC (Called Partners) coordinate the overall strategy and the training of the church planters. They implement EPIC's end vision of making disciples of those in the people group.

The sponsorship concept is a church, class, family, or individual adopts a church planting team and commits to sponsor one of the team. This is a commitment to church planting and not necessarily to an individual planter. The EPIC Partner, who leads the team, provides you the opportunity for a personalized relationship and you will receive communication through EPIC from him. Once a sponsor, you receive a detailed manual with information about your Partner, the team, the people group, prayer plan, and church planting movements.

Sponsorship support varies from $50.00 to $300.00 per month depending on the country and need. For example, a FULL sponsorship in South Asia for a church planter is $100.00. This provides financial support for his family and regular training for him. For a church planter in Central Asia or the Middle East, $500.00 per month is needed for the same needs.

There are two ways in which you can sponsor a church planter: FULL or PARTIAL.

(1) Provide FULL support for a church planter - the amount varies according to the country.   Find A Church Planter >

(2) Provide PARTIAL support as a co-sponsor - the amount for this sponsorship is $50.00.   Find A Church Planter >

Your sponsorship does not go to a nameless servant (unless security prohibits) but someone with whom you will know the details through his Partner and can pray regularly and be involved directly. EPIC will be sending you current reports, newsletters, and emails keeping you informed about the progress in launching the church planting movements where your church planting team is laboring.

TRAINING

Training or "making disciples" is at the heart of EPIC's strategy for completing the Great Commission. After all, the command Jesus gave in Matthew 28:18-20 was to go and "make disciples of all peoples." This discipleship training should be for every person in the culture of a people group...from the illiterate widow lady...to the university-trained students to the recognized Christian leader.

Church planter training not only includes basic discipleship principles but missional training to launch a church planting movement that produces self-replicating churches. So, the training is two fold: discipleship and leadership...and church planting.

The training sessions vary according to the people group, the church planters, and the conditions associated with the overall strategy. However, there are always certain core concepts that are taught and practiced.

The training implemented for church planters centers around the following subjects and concepts:

  1. Inductive Bible Study methods for leaders
  2. Characteristics of a Godly leader
  3. Church Planting Movement strategy
  4. The Church
  5. The Christian Family
  6. Bible Storying Methods and Techniques
  7. Discipling others with the Word of God
  8. Concepts of self supporting, self sustaining opportunities

Church planters have specific times of the year when they come together for days of training. When available, most trainers are from their people group or neighboring people groups. Occasionally, trainers from the West are engaged in specialized curriculums or programs.
