Athang was born into a tribal Hindu family. Through the influence of his older sister, Athang accepted Christ at a young age. He and his wife, Khola, have been working in Nepal as cross-cultural missionaries since 1989. In 2005 ,the Lord gave them a vision for working among the Maithili - a least-reached people group living in the southern part of Nepal and the northeastern area of the state of Bihar, India. This group is known to be unresponsive to the Gospel.
The Team
After a preliminary survey to assess the true situation among the people, a church planting team of Indian nationals has been formed; 11 are Maithili believers. As a result of their efforts, several Maithili have made professions of faith in Christ. We are also seeing signs of a spiritual breakthrough among this traditionally resistant people.
